Song: Don't Think About It

FAWM 2018

Album: FAWM 2018
Track: #22

I feel like I've strayed away from any use of analogy or metaphor (although _any_ song can be a metaphor if you want it to be). This song I feel just has too obvious of a point while I started out intending it to have no point at all. Pretty crazy how little control I feel I have over my songwriting sometimes. The key change challenge did at least give me something to give it some added texture/accidental irony. The chord changes are a _little_ shaky on the recording, though, but this song had only existed for 20 minutes when I recorded it. Don't think about it. :)

Little kids they step on ants
When they sing and play and dance
And it's part of life don't think about it

All the mammoths are now dead
Because we needed to keep fed
And it's part of life don't think about it

When the raiders saw our town
They felt lucky cause now
They could live a little longer than they planned
We called those invaders foul
Because they took it, our town
And we probably won't get to understand
Don't think about it

They threw our memories in the trash
Burned our happiness to ash
And it's part of life don't think about it

Now we struggle for our lives
But still it's not the worst of times
And it's part of life don't think about it

When the raiders saw our town
They felt lucky cause now
They could live a little longer than they planned
We called those invaders foul
Because they took it, our town
And we probably won't get to understand
Don't think about it

Forget about a moral code
You only know what you know
When problems come and problems go
Time is mostly borrowed

When we saw the raiders' town
We felt lucky cause now
We could live a little longer than we planned
We called those invaders foul
But we took it back, our town
And we probably won't get to understand
Don't think about it
Don't think about it
Don't think about it
