Song: Vapor

FAWM 2018

Album: FAWM 2018
Track: #14

Grah ... While I'm happy to "win" FAWM tonight (though this is only the halfway point for my personal challenge), and this one is pretty good poetically, I am just a bit frustrated with these seemingly great potential songs when I sit down and start, and I don't feel like I'm really connecting with the depth and soul of the idea I feel is there. I have this tendency, though, to write a song and think it is "complete" right then, and this practice of a song-per-day really just doesn't lend itself to vomiting something out, coming back later, and iterating, so maybe if I shelve this whole month when it's over and come back with new ears and the "head start" of some good bases, maybe it'll turn into what I hoped? Wow that turned into a bit of a diary entry. :-D Enjoy. If you dare.

There were no drops of pain upon
The window of my face
Today

Silently the world came crashing down
And left no evidence
No trace

And really looking back now
It was just completely silly
To brace

Cause though it feels like it continues
Now is only just the vapor of
Our days

If my bones were only made of stone
I wouldn't float away without warning
I'd endure through the ruckus, you know?
And probably kill the storm before the morning

There were no drops of rain upon
My window when I saw
The gray

The curtains started tossing
As the wind began to howl
In pain

I wanted to console it
As the floods carried me
Away

But reality is ruthless
And my unimportance useless
A shame

If my bones were only made of stone
I wouldn't float away without warning
I'd endure through the ruckus, you know?
And probably kill the storm before the morning
