I had to really push this one out. Lots of things I like about it, but it feels foreign given that it's a mechanical write rather than one I felt my way through. All the ideas I had today all felt rather generic/cookie-cutter/insincere, and that just happens (it's why I force myself to do one a day -- you can't write the good ones if you don't let the less-obviously-good ones through when necessary).
Objectively, it'd probably benefit from a bridge, but it's already pretty busy, so I don't think it will get one until I start hearing the accompaniment/arrangement. All-in-all a solid write, but given this is the first of my last two songs of the month, I had hoped for that great epic feeling. I didn't get it. :)
Anyway, I can't wait to hear other interpretations. FAWM is almost over (just ONE SONG TO GO!), so thanks for tuning in!
Just shifted into low Still a little hopeful though In the middle of a four lane road I've got nowhere to go Still a little hopeful though In the middle of the night I've got nothing to show Still a little hopeful though Just a little postponed Just heard I'm far too old Still a little hopeful though Bushy tailed and bright eyed Don't call me a tourist, I'm in the right place You're the conformist, whatever you might claim And this is the chorus, coming out of my face You're in the the forest, I'm in space It's in the envelope Still a little hopeful though I hope you read morse code I've got nowhere to go Still a little hopeful though In the middle of the night I found the end of the road Still a little hopeful though Just might be a little slower There's no such thing as old I'm tired of hopeful, yo It's time to be alive Don't call me a tourist, I'm in the right place You're the conformist, whatever you might claim And this is the chorus, coming out of my face You're in the the forest, I'm in space
