Song: Pivoting

FAWM 2019

Album: FAWM 2019
Track: #3

This one is pretty abstract, I guess. I have this technique I go to, especially on days where I don't have any particular inspiration, where I just come up with maybe a riff and/or lick and/or chord progression and hum out a melody, then just say consonants and vowels with it, then I write those down (as nonsense words) then go back in and add words with similar pronunciations in a way that makes some kind of sense.

That's where this one came from. It always leads to some "cleverness," but these are the songs that I generally dislike at first, because they're literally as new to me as they are to you the listener on the first time.

On the upside, this video is the very fist take. #nailedit

Apparently, there was a football game today too. Can someone tell me who won?

Pity got the call
Even with the ways she counted on
The loss of face, she held on

Begrudging of her flaw
Looking for the king she heard of, all
The subtle points were fouled on

So many would drop the ball
And open up the pain she cowered from
We'd want to send them both, but they're gone

Entwined eternally
Despair bespoke, it ends in draw
It forced the ghost they brought on

They didn't live for free
Gave a shot impossibly
Mediocrity - where everybody goes
Wasting time while it spins on
Pivoting on a long time gone
And you're listening to me

It'd really gone too far
Nobody really could have counted all
The ups and downs, and fight ons

Pity I got the call
I had no patience for the carnival
No one blinked, the axe swung

I really lost them all
They didn't think they'd heard that loud of a
Spoken note -- the one they soured on

So many would drop the ball
And find a way to sleep forever
I was with them in that boat, but they're gone

They didn't live for free
Gave a shot impossibly
Mediocrity - where everybody goes
Wasting time while it spins on
Pivoting on a long time gone
And you're listening to me
They didn't live for free
And you're listening to me
