Song: Promise Not To Look

FAWM 2019

Album: FAWM 2019
Track: #6

This one makes me laugh, and while it really kind of describes me, I took my own kind of argumentative style and drew inspiration from, of all places, how I imagine a cat probably sees the world.

It's definitely my favorite song thus far this FAWM, if only because it has a pretty approachable (and consistent) lyrical message and an interesting chord/melody blend.

I sat myself down but didn't bother to eat
Haven't been very hungry since the end of last week
Badahooooo

I went for a walk in the middle of the street
A bunch of people hinting at me with their subtle little shrieks
Badahoooo

I'm not too particular -- there's something I need
I went shopping for bamboo and all I found was teak
Badahoo

I'm not oblivious, I just never see
I have to keep focused -- keep my senses at their peak
Badahooo

I'm really not that hard to love
Open heart, open book
I'll show you freely what I'm made of
Just promise not to look

You thought it was a breakthrough when you said you love me
But then you saw me walk away and wipe your kiss off my cheek
Badahoo

Don't give me twenty dollars when I ask you for three
Would you really take a river when you asked for a creek
Badahoo

I never answer the phone, it's such a wasteful feat
I want to hear what you're saying, but you keep trying to speak
Badahoooo

I've heard it's pretty hard communicating with me
Can you believe I've been accused of speaking doublespeak?
Badahoo

I'm really not that hard to love
Open heart, open book
I'll show you freely what I'm made of
Just promise not to look

I'm really not that hard to love
Open heart, open book
I'll show you freely what I'm made of
Just promise not to look
