This one has a lot of things in it I really like, but I wouldn't say it felt good to write. It did kind of just flow out though, so I'll probably figure out what it means along with you guys. :)
The last "chorus" was also supposed to be "Get a lot" instead of "Give a lot" but I accidentally said "Give" when recording, and it was already a hundred billion takes, so I just changed the song. :-D
The bridge reminds me of a popular song, but I can't figure out what. Feel free to comment an idea if you have one.
Get a lot for a little you know Whatever I can find Up high, up high Penny a pop for the ditty you know Play me yours and I'll play you mine Up high, up high Me I live for what I give you You don't see me, no The branches on my tree will start to grow You rake the leaves that fall around you There's nowhere to go You're folding paper airplanes for the show Get a lot for a little you know Whatever I can find Up high, up high Penny a pop for the ditty you know Play me yours and I'll play you mine Up high, up high You don't thank me for what I give you But you don't say no And I hear it through the treetops when you groan The wind just might betray you But it hustles me, chapeau Telling me the story Of this poor neglected soul Who ran away when his forgiveness Tossed his caution to the forge Give a lot for a little you know Whatever I can find Up high, up high Penny a pop for the ditty you know Play me yours and I'll play you mine Up high, up high
